The JIC/TSL Student ASM 2025 took place on 31st July at the Conference Centre, bringing together an inspiring showcase of student-led science. From improving potatoes with gene silencing technology, to using AI for protein modelling, to uncovering how tropical ants partner with microbes—this year’s talks highlighted the creativity and breadth of research across our community.
The day featured a fantastic line-up, with presentations spanning plant immunity, disease resistance, crop nutrition, bacterial virulence, and even the circadian rhythms shaping metabolic pathways. It was a real celebration of science by students, for students.
A huge congratulations to this year’s winners and upcoming ASM main session speakers, Georgia Yiasoumi and Adam Gicgier 👏🎉🥳.
We would like to give special thanks to our excellent organisers, Qi-Yang Ngai and Tom Lock, as well as all the speakers, session chairs, and everyone who joined us and voted. Thanks also to the GSO team for their support, and of course to our funders for making this research possible.
The day wrapped up with pizza and plenty of lively discussion at the Rec Centre—a fitting end to a day full of inspiring science and community spirit.
Here’s to another successful year of discovery! 🌟
